Privacy Policy

The short version
- Your child's name never leaves your device. We don't ask for it on any server, we can't see it, and it is not in any payment, analytics or email.
- We collect no information from children.
- We count how the tale is used with anonymous events — no cookies, no advertising trackers, no session recordings.
- If you buy, Lemon Squeezy (our reseller) handles your payment and email receipt.
- If you join our email list, we keep your email address only to tell you about new tales, and you can leave any time.
1. Who is responsible
Tale With Me is run by a private entrepreneur registered in Armenia ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@talewithme.com.
2. What stays on your device
The tale saves a few things in your browser's local storage so it can work without an account: the child's name you typed, the reading options you chose, where you stopped, and the postcard. They are never sent to us. You can remove them with "Start over" in the parent menu or by clearing your browser's site data.
3. What we collect, and why
Anonymous reading statistics
To see whether families enjoy the tale and where they stop, the site sends short events to our own server, such as "tale started", "choice made", "tale finished", "postcard saved", together with the page, the campaign link you came from (for example utm_source), your device type, a rough country and a random visitor number stored in your browser. The events never contain the child's name, the hero options, or your email.
Our server removes anything else before passing the events to PostHog (EU servers), which we use to count and chart them. We do not use cookies for this, do not record sessions, and do not use the data for advertising or profiles. Your IP address is used only to deliver the request and work out the rough country on our server; it is not stored and not passed on to PostHog. The random visitor number is created by the site, kept only in your browser's storage (not a cookie) and lets us tell a return visit from a new one; it is not linked to your name, email or purchases. You can reset it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

If you buy the Keepsake Edition
Orders are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy collects your name, email, billing address and payment details, and is responsible for them under its own privacy policy: https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy. Lemon Squeezy tells us your email, country, what you bought and the amount, so we can help with your order and keep our accounts. We never see your card details. We do not add buyers to our email list unless they sign up themselves.
Legal basis: performing the contract with you, and our legal duties to keep accounting records.
If you join our email list
On the page after the tale, a grown-up can leave their email to hear when our next tale is ready. We ask you to confirm by clicking a link in an email; until you do, we send nothing else. We store your email address, the date and time you signed up and confirmed, and the wording you agreed to.
Emails are sent by Buttondown (USA) on our behalf. Every email says who sent it, includes our postal address and has an unsubscribe link that works straight away.
Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing or writing to us.

4. Children
Tale With Me is a picture book for adults to read with children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK): there are no accounts, the child's name stays on the device, and only adults may buy, join the email list or contact us. If you think a child has given us their email or other information, write to hello@talewithme.com and we will delete it promptly.
5. Who we share data with
Only the service providers that run Tale With Me for us, and only for that purpose:

We don't sell or rent personal data and don't share it for advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
6. International transfers
We are based in Armenia and our providers are in the EU and the USA. Where data leaves the EU or the UK, our providers use recognised safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
7. How long we keep data
- Reading statistics: up to 12 months, then deleted or kept only as totals.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe. Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after 7 days.
- Order records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (Lemon Squeezy keeps its own records).
- Messages to us: up to 2 years after the conversation ends.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct, delete or export your data, to stop using it, or object to our use of it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Write to hello@talewithme.com; we answer within one month. If you are in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
US residents: we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.
9. Security
We collect as little as we can, keep secrets out of the website, limit who can access our accounts and use providers with strong security. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top, and tell people on our email list about important changes before they take effect.
